Petr Přikryl (born February 17, 1978 in Litoměřice , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey goalkeeper who was active for various clubs in the Czech extra league. He has been a goalkeeping coach at HC Sparta Prague since 2016 .

Career

Petr Přikryl began his career in the offspring of HC Kladno before moving to HC Sparta Prague in 1996 , which became his home club. From the 1997/98 season he was the second goalkeeper for the capital city and played for them in the Extraliga and the European Hockey League . However, he never got beyond the role of the substitute goalkeeper, so that he was often loaned out to second- and third-rate teams. He was used at HC Berounsti Medvedi and HC Slovan Ústí nad Labem, among others .

In 2000 and 2002 he was Czech champion with Sparta , but was still in the shadows behind Milan Hnilička and Petr Briza . Therefore, Přikryl decided in 2003 to change and joined HC Dukla Trenčín from the Slovak Extra League . With Dukla he became Slovakian champion in 2004 and shone in the playoffs with an average goal against goals of 1.42 and a catch rate of 94.4%. After this success he returned to the Czech Republic and initially stood between the posts for HC Znojemští Orli . But since he was only a substitute goalkeeper here, he was loaned to HC Mladá Boleslav . At the end of the season he returned to Trenčín , but could not repeat the previous year's success.

In the 2005/06 season Přikryl was initially under contract with HC Energie Karlovy Vary before he was loaned to HC Mladá Boleslav for 16 games. At the beginning of the following season he belonged to the squad of HC Sparta Prague as a substitute goalkeeper. In the middle of the season he was loaned to HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi and reached the championship of the 1st division and the associated promotion to the extra league with his new club . In the 2007/08 season he was the goalkeeper of the Elbestäder in the Extraliga, but could not prevent his club from relegating.

In the summer of 2008 Přikryl signed a two-year contract with MsHK Žilina , which he dissolved after 13 games to return to his home club Sparta Prague. Shortly before, Tomáš Duba had left Sparta, so Sparta needed a new goalkeeper. With Sparta he reached the playoff semifinals of the 2008/09 season . In 2010 he received a contract with the Czech first division club HC Plzeň 1929 and was loaned to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers as the third goalkeeper at the end of January 2011 . He then returned to HC Plzeň, but was only used at the HC Stadion Litoměřice and IHC Písek in the second division.

In May 2012 he moved permanently to the HC Stadion Litoměřice and ended his career there in April 2015. Parallel to his position as goalkeeper, Přikryl acted as General Manager of the HC Stadion Litoměřice from 2012. He has been goalkeeping coach at HC Sparta Prague since 2016 and held the same position for the Czech national team in 2018.
