The HC ZUBR Přerov is an ice hockey club from Přerov , which was founded in 1928 as Sportovní klub Přerov . The club has been participating in the second-rate first division since 2015 and plays its home games in the Přerov winter stadium , which can accommodate 3,000 spectators. The main sponsor and namesake of the association has been the ZUBR brewery from Přerov since 2006.
history
The club was founded in 1928 as Sportovní klub Přerov and played in regional amateur leagues until the early 1970s, as no artificial ice was available in Přerov and the training conditions were impaired.
In 1971, an artificial ice stadium was opened in Přerov, which became the club's new home ground. At the end of the 1972/73 season this reached promotion from the regional league ( Czech Krajský přebor ) in the fourth-class Divize . The following season, the club, renamed TJ Meochema Přerov , won its season of Divize and then defeated TJ Slovan Hodonín in two qualifying games. Thus, the club rose to the third highest division, the 2nd Česká národní hokejová liga on. Again three years later the club was able to move up to the second division, the 1. ČNHL , and in 1982 won the championship of this league. This also entitled to participate in the relegation to the 1st league , which ended, however, with three defeats against Slovan CHZJD Bratislava .
1993 Meochema Přerov was divided into the new, purely Czech second division (1st division). In the 1995/96 season , the team won their semi-finals, qualified for the relegation to the extra league, but managed only one victory in 12 games against the other relegation participants and remained in the first division.
In 1998 HC Přerov was relegated from the 1st to the 2nd league, where he played until 2015. As the first round (east) he reached the playoff final and was there champion of the season east. In the relegation to the first division, the club took first place and thus made it to the second division.
