Josef Hrabal began his career in the Vsetínská hokejová youth team , for whose U18 juniors he played in the U18 extra league from 1999. In 2001 he was accepted into the club's U20 team. Shortly before the end of the transition period, he returned to Europe and played six games for MODO Hockey . In August 2009 he was signed by HC Oceláři Třinec , with whom he won the Czech championship at the end of the 2010/11 season . He contributed to this success with 12 scorer points in the playoffs. In addition, with a plus / minus value of +13, he had the best rating of all players in the playoffs.
