Deputazione di Storia Patria per le Venezie

The Deputazione di Storia Patria per le Venezie is a historical association in Venice with its headquarters on Calle del Tintor in the Santa Croce sestiere . It has existed since 1873 and is one of the societies of this type that exist in almost every province in Italy. Piero Del Negro is its president.

tasks

Since then, your task has been to promote the study of the history of the regions of Veneto , Trentino-South Tyrol , Giulia ( Friuli-Venezia-Giulia ) and the Adriatic regions. In addition, for the history of the Republic of Venice, there are all places and areas that were under Venetian rule until 1797, i.e. until the end of the Republic, especially its colonial empire .

Members

The Deputazione consists of 50 members ( soci effettivi ), plus a number of honorary and corresponding members who live outside the Veneto region, which is not limited by the statutes; furthermore up to 80 corresponding members within the region. The total number is limited to a maximum of 200 members. President was Federico Seneca , he was followed by Gherardo Ortalli , secretary was Prof. Mario De Biasi , he was followed by Federico Pigozzo.

Headquarters

The headquarters have been in Venice from the start, and since 1981 it has been in a 17th century palace on Campo San Giacomo dall'Orio , not far from the State Archives on Calle del Tintor. The meeting, held every autumn, takes place in different locations. The library of the house comprises around 20,000 titles, 63 of which are from the 16th and 218 from the 17th century, plus a number of current journals.

Publications

The Society publishes the Archivio Veneto , which has been published since 1871 , every six months . In addition, there is the Monumenti collection , which is more dedicated to the sources. It consists of three series ( Documenti , Statuti and Cronache e diarii ) and a new series ( Nuova series ).

The Collezione Miscellanea offers five series. Outside of these ranks appeared u. a. Works on the institute itself.
