The 2002/03 season was the 10th regular staging of the Czech extra league . The Czech champion was HC Slavia Prague , who prevailed in the play-off final against HC IPB Pojišťovna Pardubice with 4-3 wins. In the relegation HC Vagnerplast Kladno won the series against HC Havířov and thus rose to the extra league , while HC Havířov was relegated to the first division .

In 52 games, all teams play against each other four times, each team has 26 home and 26 away games throughout the season. The teams in places 1 to 8 qualify directly for the play-offs, which are played in the best-of-seven mode. The team in 14th place plays in the league relegation against the champions of the 1st division to stay in the extra league .
