Ondřej Weissmann

Ondřej Weissmann (born October 28, 1959 in Duchcov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey coach and former player who has been the assistant coach of the Czech national team for several years .

Career

Ondřej Weissmann played between 1975 and 1990 for the CHZ Litvínov in the first division , only in the seasons 1982/83 and 1983/84 he went on the ice because of his military service for the army sports club Dukla Jihlava . He won in 1983 and 1984 the championship of Czechoslovakia. For Litvínov he completed a total of 445 games in the top division of Czechoslovakia, in which he scored 54 goals and 52 assists. During his time at Dukla Jihlava, he scored 14 goals and 13 assists in 81 games.

For the Czechoslovak national team, Weissmann played in three major tournaments, the U18 European Championship in 1977 and the U20 World Championship in 1978 and 1979. For the men's national team, he completed four games.

In the 1990/91 season he played in Italy. He then ended his career and initially coached the HC Teplice junior team until 1992 . Between 1992 and 1994 he was assistant coach at HC Litvínov behind Ivan Hlinka and Josef Beránek senior . In the season 1994/95 he acted as assistant coach of František Vorlíček , before both were dismissed after the 43rd match day. Then he took over the coaching position at HC Teplice from the 2nd division. In the 1996/97 season he won the Czech junior championship with the HC Litvínov junior team.

The 1997/98 season he began as the head coach of HC Litvínov, but was replaced after the 32nd game day by Ivan Hlinka. At the beginning of the following season he was again appointed head coach of his home club, but was replaced after 13 game days. He then continued to work in the club's youth division before moving to HC Slavia Prague in the spring of 2000 . There he was initially the assistant coach of Jaromír Šindel , then until 2007 of Vladimír Růžička , and won a championship title and two runners-up with Slavia.

Between 2010 and 2012 he worked as a U20 youth coach at HC Litvínov before he became assistant coach of Růžička at Slavia Prague again in mid-January 2012.

Since 2004 Weissmann has been assistant coach of the Czech national team and won the gold medal with them at the 2005 and 2010 World Cups and the bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics . In 2008, he was also in charge of the U20 junior team as assistant coach to Miloslav Hořava senior , who finished fifth at the 2008 U20 World Cup.
