Jan Novák (born February 9, 1979 in Havlíčkův Brod , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Slavia Prague in the Czech Extraliga since October 2016 .
Career
Jan Novák comes from the offspring of BK Havlíčkův Brod . Via the juniors of HC Olomouc , he came to HC Slavia Prague in 1997 , for which he was on the ice in over 450 Extraliga games until 2006. In 2003 he became Czech champion for the first time with Slavia . In 2004 and 2006 two runners-up followed before he moved to Ak Bars Kazan in the summer of 2006 . After a year in the Russian Super League , in which he won the IIHF European Champions Cup with Kazan , he was signed by Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM-liiga . He came back to Slavia Prague in the spring of 2008 via the Swedish Elitserien club Skellefteå AIK and won the Czech championship again with his home club. In March 2009 Novák was loaned to BK Mladá Boleslav , with whom he achieved relegation. He was then signed by the Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg from the KHL , but returned to the Czech Republic in October of the same year. In the following year and a half he was under contract with HC Kometa Brno .
For the 2010/11 season Novák moved within the Extraliga to HC České Budějovice , for which he played until 2012 before he was signed by SHC Fassa .
In December 2012, the EC Graz 99ers from the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga became his new employer. For the 2013/14 season he returned to HC České Budějovice, who now played in the second division. At the same time, he received some missions on loan with the Piráti Chomutov in the extra league. In the 2014/15 season Novák was again under contract with HC Slavia Prague and rose with this from the Extraliga to the 1st division. This was followed by a season at HK 36 Skalica in the Slovak Extraliga before he returned to the Czech Republic for HC Most in 2016 . There he played until October before he was again committed by Slavia Prague. There he will be captaincy in 2017.
International
For the Czech Republic , Novák took part in the 2004 World Cup, where he and his team came in fifth. He gave two assists in seven games. He has played a total of 34 international matches so far, in which he scored four goals.
