Just two years later he made his debut in the men's team of his home club, which was then playing in the second-rate first division . In the summer of 1998 he decided to move to the first-class HC Třinec because he saw better development opportunities there. In the following season he was initially part of the Extraliga squad of Třinec, but was loaned to his home club at the end of the season. He also played three games for HC Slezan Opava in the first division.

In the following three years he improved his offensive performance significantly, so that at the end of the 2002/03 season he was named the best goalscorer in the Extraliga. Because of the performances shown, he was selected during the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers in 243rd place. He did not move to North America but signed a contract with HC Sparta Prague . At Sparta he was able to confirm his previous achievements and reached the Czech championship in 2006 with his new club . He was also recognized as the top scorer in the Extraliga and had the best plus / minus value of all Extraliga players.

After winning the title with Sparta, he got a contract offer from the Russian top club Metallurg Magnitogorsk , which he accepted. In his first season in the Russian Super League, he was Russian champion with Metallurg . In addition, he and his new team won the IIHF European Champions Cup 2008 , where he was one of the best scorers on his team.
