Marek Posmyk (born September 15 , 1978 in Jihlava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Litvínov from the Czech extra league since April 2012 .

Career

Marek Posmyk began his career in 1995 with HC Dukla Jihlava , for whom he completed a total of 42 games in the Extraliga in his first two seasons with the seniors . Towards the end of the 1996/97 season he moved overseas and played two more games with the St. John's Maple Leafs in the American Hockey League this season . The following season the Czech began with Sarnia Sting from the Ontario Hockey League , before returning to the St. John's Maple Leafs that same winter, where he finally stayed for two more seasons. At the turn of the century Marek Posmyk made his debut in the National Hockey League . There he stood for the Tampa Bay Lightning for 18 matches on the ice, in which he reached three scorer points (one goal and two goal preparation). In the 2000/01 season he defended both again for the Detroit Vipers and a game for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In 2001 he returned to Europe, where for the next nine years, apart from two detours in Nuremberg and Linz, he was almost exclusively involved with Czech first division clubs. Zlín , Slavia Prague , Plzeň , České Budějovice , Pardubice and Mladá Boleslav were the stations in the top division of his country after his return. In the 2009/10 season he laced up his ice skates for KLH Chomutov . In 2003 the defensive specialist celebrated the championship title with HC Slavia Prague after completing a playoff series with seven scorer points. Overall, he brought it to about 80 scorer points in his home league.

In the summer of 2010, Posmyk left his Czech homeland for the third time and initially played for the Lausitzer Füchse from the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey , before he moved to Italy in the A1 series after his trial contract expired in early November 2010 . At SG Cortina he and his compatriot Daniel Branda brought new wind to the team and was named “Defender of the Month” in the month of his commitment. In the end, he just missed the playoff participation with Cortina. This was followed by the move to league competitor HC Pustertal , where he was released before the start of the season due to poor performance. It wasn't until December 2011 that he found a new employer in HC Kladno , for whom he played 16 extraliga games. At the end of April 2012 he was signed for the 2012/13 season by HC Litvínov .

Marek Posmyk was used at the U18 European Junior Championship in 1996 and the Junior World Championship in 1997 .
