history

In 1945 the ČSK Chomutov was founded in Chomutov , which rose to the top division of Czechoslovakia , the 1st division , in 1951 as Sokol Hutě . Three years later, the club finished third in the championship of Czechoslovakia. A year later, the team achieved the greatest success in the club's history, winning the runner-up title in 1956.

Almost ten years later, at the end of the 1963/64 season , the VTŽ Chomutov was relegated to the second division. In 1967 the club became champions of the second division and rose again to the first division. But just a year later, the team took last place in the table and had to relegate again. 1973 succeeded again the promotion to the top division, in which the club, however, only held a year.

In the following years the club belonged to the midfield of the 2nd division. In 1984 the club even got into the amateur league, the 2nd ČNL. Due to financial difficulties in the 1990s, the club initially failed to achieve sporting success or a promotion. In 1997, the club, renamed KLH Chomutov , bought the license for the first division from HC Slovan Ústí nad Labem and was therefore back in second class after 13 years. At the end of the 2000/01 season , the KLH even took part in the promotion round to Extraliga , but missed promotion. In 2007 and 2008 the club was runner-up in the first division. In 2010 he reached the championship of the 1st division and thus qualified for the relegation against the loser of the Extraliga playouts.

In 2011, the club's professional division was renamed Piráti Chomutov . In 2012 the Piráti again reached the championship of the 1st division and qualified for the relegation against the loser of the Extraliga playouts. The Piráti defeated BK Mladá Boleslav 4: 3 and rose again to the top division, the Tipsport Extraliga, after almost 40 years of second-rate play . Two years later, the club was relegated back to the second division, but was able to return to the upper house after a year. In 2019, the second class had to be started again.
