Petr Macholda (born January 25, 1982 in Most , Czechoslovakia ) is a former German - Czech ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen in the DEL2 for five years . Before that he played for many years in the Czech Extra League and the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Petr Macholda began his career with HC Litvínov in the U20 extra league before making his senior team debut in the Czech extra league in the 2000/01 season . In the following years, the defender completed not only appearances in the top division but also games for the second and third division teams HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi and KLH Chomutov . Via HC Energie Karlovy Vary , the right-handed shooter came to HC Zlín during the 2002/03 season , with whom he won the Czech championship at the end of the 2003/04 season .

In the summer of 2004, Petr Macholda was signed by the Kassel Huskies . His father, Vladimir Macholda , had already played for EC Kassel in the 1990s. Due to his German citizenship, the defender in Kassel did not fall under the foreign contingent. Macholda scored three scorer points in 59 games and moved back to the Czech Republic for HC Karlovy Vary in 2005.

At the end of the 2005/06 season, the German-Czech was signed by the Frankfurt Lions , who equipped him with a two-year contract before the following season . With a sponsorship license , the defensive player was not only used in the DEL but also in the 2nd Bundesliga at EV Landsberg 2000 .

A year later, the contract with Macholda was terminated and the defender moved from the Frankfurt Lions to the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , where he had signed a two-year contract. In summer 2009 he left Grizzly Adams after his contract expired and joined HC Sparta Prague . For the 2011/12 season Macholda was committed by the Augsburg Panthers .

Between 2013 and 2018 Macholda was under contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen in the DEL2 and was one of the top performers in the team. In September 2017 he injured his shoulder in a game, had to undergo an operation and ended his career after the 2017/18 season due to the injury.

International

In April 2007 Petr Macholda was appointed to the German national team for the ice hockey world championship for the first time . But since his international eligibility to play was not confirmed by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF, national coach Uwe Krupp appointed Felix Petermann instead of Macholda . The reason for the non-confirmation was the failure to meet the two-year deadline for the change of nation, as Macholda had played for Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic in the 2005/06 season.
