The 2011/12 season was the 19th regular staging of the second highest Czech ice hockey league, the 1st česká hokejová league . The champions of the 1st league were the Piráti Chomutov , who qualified for the league relegation.
In 52 games of the main round, all teams played against each other four times, each team had 26 home and 26 away games. The teams in places 1 to 8 qualified for the playoffs, while the remaining six teams in the playouts played off the two participants in the relegation.
The playoffs were played in best-of-seven mode. The last two teams in the playouts played a league relegation against the three season winners of the 2nd division . The two best teams in the relegation qualified for the first division of the following season.
In the relegation between the 1st and 2nd leagues, the last two in the relegation round met the winners of the three seasons of the 2nd league. The clubs of the 1st division prevailed, so that there was no promotion or relegation.
