The Zimní stadion Olomouc ( German Winter Stadium Olomouc ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Nová Ulice district of the Moravian city of Olomouc in the Czech Republic . It has been the home ground of the HC Olomouc ice hockey club since 1948 , currently in the Extraliga , the country's top division. The capacity is 5500 visitors, spread over 3800 seats and 1700 standing places. The hall is located near the Andrův Stadium , which was inaugurated in 1940 , the venue of the SK Sigma Olomouc football club .
history
The open ice rink was opened on January 25, 1948. In 1967 the open-air arena was given a roof. An extension and extensive renovation of the grandstands and the facade was carried out in 1980. In the Zimní stadium in Olomouc, matches of the women's volleyball world championship in 1986 took place. In 1988, the ice rink was the venue for the European U18 ice hockey championship . In 2006 the ice surface was renewed. From 2009 to 2011 minor work took place. In the ice rink can free Wi-Fi - Internet be used.
The hall would have to be adapted to the modern requirements for comfort and equipment. The modernization has been discussed and plans submitted for a number of years, but it has not yet been implemented. Already after the first championship title in 1994 there was discussion about a renovation or new construction of the hall, but the project did not get beyond the stage of announcements and promises of politics.
