The ŠKO-Energo Aréna is an ice rink in the Czech city of Mladá Boleslav in Central Bohemia . It has space for 4,200 spectators. The main user of the building complex is the ice hockey club BK Mladá Boleslav , which plays all home games for the youth and professional teams here.

history

In 1956, an artificial ice rink was built in Mladá Boleslav with a capacity of 10,372 and opened on November 26, 1956. 1959 games of the placement round for places 7-12 of the ice hockey world championship took place in the ice stadium of Mladá Boleslav. In the 1970s, the open-air stadium underwent its first renovation, when a grandstand with seating for 1,010 spectators was built. In 1980, construction work began on the stadium roof and was completed on October 2nd of the same year. At the same time, the seat capacity was increased to 2,372. The total capacity fell to 7,500 spectators. In the 1990s, the interior fittings and cooling technology were modernized.

Another renovation took place in 2006 when more standing rooms were converted into seats. Since then, a total of 3,700 seats and 500 standing places have been available.

Between 2006 and 2008 the ice rink was called Zlatopramen Arena after one of the club's main sponsors, the Zlatopramen brewery, which is part of Heineken . From 2008 the stadium will be called Metrostav Aréna, after the construction company Metrostav . Since the 2010/11 season of the Czech Extra League , the hall has been called ŠKO-Energo Aréna, after the energy supplier for the city of Mladá Boleslav and for the Škoda Auto vehicle factory . In the summer of 2009, additional mobile stands were installed for around 500 spectators.

In addition to the air-conditioned main hall with a standard ice surface of 60 × 30 meters, there is a small side hall with an ice surface of 56 × 26 meters. It is mainly used for training purposes and public ice skating. The arena has a fitness studio and an illuminated parking lot for 400 cars and four buses. The restaurant has 80 seats and offers wireless Internet access, three large screens and a view of the main ice rink. The restaurant can also be rented for celebrations and events.
