The ČPP aréna is an ice rink in the Czech city ​​of Hradec Králové , Eastern Bohemia . It has been the home ground of Mountfield HK ice hockey club since 1957 . The ice rink now offers 6,890 seats, which are divided into 3,655 seats and 3,235 standing spaces. The ice surface is 60 m × 30 m in size.

The facility, inaugurated in 1957, initially only had an ice rink . In 1969, the roofing of the area began and an ice rink was built, which opened in 1976. On the occasion of the European under-18 ice hockey championship in 1980, a second ice rink was created next to the arena. It was roofed over in 2001 and currently offers 500 standing places to visitors.

In 2007 an extensive renovation of the ice rink began. It was u. a. a new cooling system and boxes for sponsors and VIP guests installed. The grandstands and seats as well as the hall lighting were renewed. A video cube was installed under the roof . After the sponsorship agreement on the naming rights was terminated in June 2017, the hall has had the sponsor name ČPP aréna since September 1st , after the insurance company ČPP belonging to the Vienna Insurance Group . The contract will initially run until April 30, 2018.

Events

The games of the A group of the European under-18 ice hockey championship in 1980 were played in the ice rink in Hradec Králové. In addition to the ČEZ Aréna in Pardubice , the then Zimní stadion Hradec Králové was the venue for the top division of the 2002 U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship .

In addition to ice hockey, other sporting events also take place in the hall. In 2000 the sports hall was a venue for the IIHF Men's Inline Hockey World Championship . The 2017 European women's basketball championship took place in three halls in the Czech Republic. In Hradec Králové the games of group A and B as well as two games of qualification for the quarterfinals were played.
