The Werk Arena ( Czech Nová Werk Aréna ) is a multifunctional arena in the Czech city of Třinec . It has been the main venue for the extra division HC Oceláři Třinec , an ice hockey team , since 2014 . In addition, other indoor sports as well as cultural and social events such as concerts are held. It replaced the old Arena factory built in 1967 . The new arena offers space for 5,200 spectators.
history
In October 2012, construction of a multifunctional arena began in the northern neighborhood of the old Arena factory. Trial operations began in July 2014 in the 5,200-seat arena. The first game was played on July 31 by HC Oceláři Třinec and Bílí Tygři Liberec (6-2). Martin Adamský scored the first goal . The new arena offers u. a. Shops, offices, VIP rooms and a club restaurant with a view of the ice rink. A video cube hangs under the roof of the hall : the transport links around the hall have been expanded and 580 parking spaces are available. The costs amounted to CZK 700 million (27.2 million € ), of which about one-fifth of the EU funded. A small ice rink called Mini Werk Arena has been part of the large arena since June 2016 . The training hall is also open to youth teams, figure skaters as well as ice skaters and hobby hockey players. HC Oceláři Třinec invested over 100 million CZK in the construction. (around four million €)
From July 15 to 17, the quarter-final game of the Davis Cup 2016 between the Czech Republic and France (1: 3) took place in the Třinec hall.
