O 2 Arena (Prague)
The O 2 Arena is a multifunctional hall in the Libeň district of the Czech capital Prague . It was built for the 2004 Ice Hockey World Championship . The hall is located northeast of the city center in the Prague 9 administrative district . The Českomoravská metro station on line B is located near the hall . It offers 17,000 spectators, at concerts there are up to 18,000 seats. The main user of the hall has been the HC Sparta Prague ice hockey club since the 2015/16 season . Before that, it was the city rival HC Slavia Prague , relegated from the top Czech league in 2015 .

Although the Czech Ice Hockey Federation and the City of Prague had had the idea of building a large hall for sporting and cultural events in the capital for some time, it was not until the Men's Ice Hockey World Championship in 2004 that these plans could be realized. The foundation stone was laid in September 2002 and construction was completed in 2004.

From the opening on March 24, 2004 to February 29, 2008, the hall was called Sazka Arena , after a rebranding on March 1, 2008 it was officially called O 2 Arena , after the telephone company Telefónica O 2 Czech Republic, part of Telefónica Europe group, name sponsor was.
