The Home Credit Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Czech city ​​of Liberec . It offers space for up to 9,000 spectators.

history

The idea of ​​building a multifunctional arena has long been considered by the Liberecs city government. Again and again one heard rumors about the construction, but the start of construction was delayed.

There were many reasons to rebuild or rebuild the entire sports area, as the condition of the entire area at the time, which included several lawns, an athletic stadium, tennis courts and a bowling alley, required a conversion.

In September 2003 the city council decided that the whole project was feasible and very beneficial for the city as a result of the strategy development and the stimulation of tourist traffic, whereupon construction began on September 5, 2003. The arena was completed on June 23, 2005.

On September 8, 2005, the multifunctional arena in Liberec was officially opened. Depending on the type of sport, it offers a different size. In ice hockey or basketball games each have up to 7,500 spectators.

On October 31, 2005 the naming rights changed from the betting company Tipsport as to the credit institute Home Credit as .

The arena is used by the ice hockey team from Bílí Tygři Liberec and the basketball team from BK Kondori Liberec , who play their home games here.

The arena was the venue for the top division of the U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship in 2008 . On February 18, 2009 the opening of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 took place in the arena . Then the band Deep Purple gave a concert in the hall.

From June 20 to 25, 2011, the European senior table tennis championship took place in the arena and four other surrounding halls , in which more than 2100 players from all over Europe took part.

Concerts are also held here at regular intervals.
