The Czech Davis Cup team is the national tennis team of the Czech Republic . The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, analogous to the Fed Cup for women.
history
From 1921 to 1993 (with the exception of the war years) the Czech players took part in the Davis Cup as a team of Czechoslovakia (only Ladislav Hecht in the first Czechoslovakia and the Slovak with the Czech surname Miloslav Mečíř played more often in the team), before it became an independent team Czech team gave. The then Czechoslovak team reached the final twice with only Czech players: While they lost 3-2 to Sweden in 1975 , the team won their only title against Italy 4-1 in 1980 in Prague . Under the Czech flag, the team was able to move into the final for the first time in 2009 , but lost to Spain 5-0. Three years later, in 2012 , the team took revenge on home soil in Prague: The Spaniards were defeated 3-2, which means the team won the Davis Cup for the second time overall and for the first time as the Czech Republic. In 2013 the team successfully defended their title. In the final she defeated Serbia 3-2.
The team's best player is the three-time Grand Slam winner from the 1970s, Jan Kodeš , who celebrated a total of 60 victories in 15 years.
