The Portuguese Davis Cup team is the national tennis team of Portugal . The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, analogous to the Fed Cup for women.

The Portuguese Davis Cup team is looked after by the Portuguese Tennis Association, the Federação Portuguesa de Ténis (FPT).

history

Portugal has been participating in the Davis Cup since 1925 . The team celebrated their greatest success in 1994 when they played in the play-offs for promotion to the world group. The most successful player and record player at the same time is João Cunha e Silva with a total of 37 victories, which he was able to achieve in 30 participations within 16 years.
