The Argentine Davis Cup team , the tennis team of the Argentine Tennis Association Asociación Argentina de Tenis . The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, analogous to the Fed Cup for women.
history
Argentina has played in the Davis Cup since 1923 and was able to reach the final for the first time in 1981 , which his team lost 3-1 to the US team . It took the team 25 years to reach another final. In 2006 they lost 3-2 to the Russian team . Two years later they made it back to the final, but lost 3-1 to the Spanish selection on home soil . In 2011 they reached the fourth finals, but Spain again got the upper hand 3-1. The first title was won in 2016 . After victories against Poland , Italy and defending champions Great Britain , the team defeated Croatia 3-2 in the final .
The most successful Argentinian Davis Cup player is Guillermo Vilas . In the period from 1970 to 1984 , he completed a total of 64 games in singles and doubles, of which he won 48.
