Guido Pella started playing tennis at the age of five. His father Carlos is a tennis coach, his mother Charo is a university professor. His sister Catalina is also a professional tennis player.
His preliminary breakthrough came in the 2012 season , when he won three titles on the Challenger Tour in singles and another in doubles. He also made his Grand Slam debut thanks to qualifying at the US Open .
Due to his success on the Challenger Tour, he qualified for the ATP Challenger Tour Finals 2012 in São Paulo . In the group stage he won against Rubén Ramírez Hidalgo and Thomaz Bellucci , while he was defeated by Adrian Ungur in the third set in the tie-break. He reached the semifinals through the two wins, which he won against Victor Hănescu in straight sets. In the final he met Adrian Ungur again, whom he was able to defeat this time; this game was also decided in the tie-break of the third set. This success brought Pella into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time .
In 2016 he made his debut for the Argentine Davis Cup team .
