Christian Lindell (born November 20, 1991 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a Swedish tennis player .
Career
Lindell mainly plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . He has already celebrated eight single and nine double titles on the Future Tour. He made his debut on the ATP World Tour in July 2010 at the SkiStar Swedish Open in Båstad, for which he received a wildcard ; in the first round of the main field he lost against Jarkko Nieminen despite a strong performance and winning the first set 6: 4, 0: 6 and 4: 6. In May 2011 he competed for Sweden at the World Team Cup , but lost all of his three group games in straight sets. He also received a wildcard for the ATP tournament in Båstad in 2011; he lost in his first round game to Pere Riba . His first victory on the ATP World Tour was in Båstad in 2014 when he defeated Íñigo Cervantes in two sets in round one .
In September of the same year he made his debut for the Swedish Davis Cup team in the playoff game against Romania . Although Lindell won the first game of the encounter against Adrian Ungur , Sweden lost 3-1 and had to play in the relegation in October. There Lindell won his game against Janis Podzus and in the end Sweden also stayed 3-2 victorious, which allowed the team to keep Continental Group I.
In 2015 he reached his first final on the Challenger Tour in São Paulo , which he lost to Guido Pella in straight sets. In addition, he qualified for the main field for the first time at the French Open . He was eliminated in the first round. The following seasons until mid-2020 remained for Lindell without participating in the finals on the Challenger Tour, while on the Future Tour he secured three individual titles during this period.
