The South Americans lost this duel 2: 3 and were relegated. In 1987 they were promoted again, but this time too the team had no chance against Germany and Spain and lost both matches 0-5. In 1991 Brazil made it into the world group again and made it to the semi-finals, which were lost to Switzerland . In the following year the team was relegated again, in 1996 the promotion followed. This time Brazil was able to spend a longer time in the world group and reached the semi-finals in 2000 , which were lost to Australia . After seven years, they had to accept relegation again in 2003 , until 2011 Brazil failed six times in a row in the playoffs on the rise, which succeeded against Russia in 2012 .
