The 2015/16 season was the 23rd regular staging of the highest Czech ice hockey league, the Tipsport Extraliga . The Czech champions were for the first time in the club's history the Bílí Tygři Liberec ( White Tiger ), who defeated HC Sparta Prague 4-2 in the playoff final. Last year's champions HC Verva Litvínov and HC Energie Karlovy Vary prevailed in the relegation round between the first division and the extra division , so there was no relegation to the second division.

The Pohár TG Masaryka

In 52 games, all teams play against each other four times, each team has 26 home and 26 away games throughout the season. The teams in places 1 to 6 qualify directly for the play-offs, which are played in best-of-seven mode. The winner of the play-offs will receive the Pohár TG Masaryka as the Czech champions .

The teams in places 7 to 10 play off the other two playoff places in the best of five . The remaining four teams play a relegation round (play-out), the last two of which participate in the league relegation against the two semi-final winners of the first division .

In the relegation round of the 2014/15 season between the first division and the extra division, one of the two participants from the second division - the Piráti Chomutov - prevailed and replaced HC Slavia Prague .

Main round

The main round began on September 11, 2015 and ended on March 4, 2016 with the 52nd matchday. The main round won the Bílí Tygři Liberec with 118 points and 8 points ahead of second-placed HC Sparta Prague . A highlight of the regular season was the Hokejové hry Brno 2016 ( Winter Games Brno 2016 ) in Brno , where HC Kometa Brno played two open-air games against HC Škoda Plzeň (5: 2, 18,514 spectators) and HC Sparta Prague (2: 4, 21,500 spectators). For this purpose, a temporary open-air arena was built, which was used for a total of 1 week and, in addition to the Extraliga games, also hosted a large number of other junior, amateur and women's games.
