The 2015/16 season was the 25th season of the Latvian Ice Hockey League , the highest Latvian ice hockey league . Champion was the first time in club history at all of HK Liepāja .

mode

In the main round, the seven teams played 30 games each. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, each team received two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time. The two best-placed teams qualified directly for the semi-finals of the playoffs, in which the champions will be played out, while another four teams determined the two other participants in the semi-finals in the play-off quarter-finals.

Attendees

Of the participants in the preseason only Ogre / Sāga 18 left the league. The HASC Jūrmala moved to Tukums and cooperated there with the HK Tukums . Hokeja skola Riga , which had already taken part in the competition several times under different names, was accepted as a new participant .

Main round

The main round of the Latvian ice hockey league comprised 30 game days, began on September 5, 2015 and ended on March 6, 2016. After the first round, the HASC Tukums withdrew from gaming due to financial problems. The team or the right to start was then taken over by Hokeja skola Riga in partnership with HK Tukums and, as a result, mainly young players were used.

With 23 wins from 30 games, HK Liepāja prevailed and moved directly into the playoff semifinals.

The play-offs began on March 8, 2016 with the fourth-finals between HK Kurbads and HS Riga as well as HK Zemgale and HK Prizma Riga .
