The 2015/16 season was the 25th season of the Icelandic Ice Hockey League , the highest Icelandic ice hockey league . Master was for the 19th time in the club's history Skautafélag Akureyrar , who was able to defend his title from the previous year.

In the main round, the four teams played 24 games each. The two best-placed teams qualified for the championship finals. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
