Skautafélag Akureyrar is an Icelandic ice sports club from Akureyri founded in 1937 , which is best known for its ice hockey department , which plays in the Icelandic ice hockey league.

history

Skautafélag Akureyrar has been participating continuously in the Icelandic ice hockey league since the 1991/92 season . The team is record champions with 20 titles .

In 2010 the club's management decided to allow two teams to play in the top division in the future, with the first team playing as Víkingar and the second team as Jötnar . The club won the 20th championship title in the club's history in 2018. At the IIHF Continental Cup 2018/19 Skautafélag succeeded by victories against the host SK Irbis-Skate from Bulgaria (5: 4 after penalty shootout), the Turkish representative Zeytinburnu Belediyesi SK (6: 1) and the Israeli club HC Bat Yam (2: 0) as the first Icelandic club to jump into the second round of the competition.
