The season 2015/16 the Italian Ice Hockey Championship of Serie A began on 19 September 2015 and was the 82nd regular hosting of the Italian Championship. Four teams left the league before the start of the season and entered Serie B , so that the field of participants in Serie A was reduced to eight teams. After a final victory against HC Pustertal, Ritten Sport became champion for the second time after 2014 .

The SV Caldaro , HC Appiano , Hockey Milano Rossoblu and the HC Neumarkt left the Serie A to play in Serie B.

In the main round, the eight teams each played 42 games in three rounds. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time.

All teams in the main round qualified for the playoffs, which were played entirely in best-of-seven mode .
