Thomas Tragust (born May 27, 1986 in Schlanders ) is an Italian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Ritten Sport in the Alps Hockey League since 2018 .

Career

Thomas Tragust began his career as an ice hockey player at HC Meran , for whom he made his Serie A1 debut in the 2003/04 season . Then the goalkeeper, who was relegated with Meran in his rookie year , played for the club in Serie B for two years. He spent the 2006/07 season with the Texas Tornado in the junior division of the North American Hockey League . The goalkeeper was then signed by the first division club SHC Fassa , for whom he was between the posts for two seasons. In June 2009 it was announced that Tragust will be moving to Germany for the 2009/10 season to ESV Kaufbeuren in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga . Thomas Tragust was not confirmed because of the reduced transfer limit in Kaufbeuren. His successor there was Stefan Vajs . In August 2010 the national goalkeeper joined the WSV Sterzing Broncos , with whom he won the Serie A2 championship in the 2010/11 season . For the 2012/2013 season he moved to HC Innsbruck in the Austrian EBEL . There it only lasted for a year, however, and so he came back to SHC Fassa via the stations HC Eppan Pirates and HC Neumarkt , with whom he won the second Italian league in 2015 , but which he also moved to HC Pustertal after only one year in 2016 left. With the best catch rate and the lowest average goal conceded in the league, he contributed to the fact that the team from Bruneck, behind Ritten Sport , achieved second place in the basic round and the master round of the Alps Hockey League 2016/17 . He also won the Supercoppa 2016 with HC Pustertal . For the 2018/19 season, Tragust switched to Ritten Sport.

International

For Italy , Tragust took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I 2004 and the U20 Junior World Championships in Division I in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 .

At the World Cup of Division I in 2011, he contributed with two shutouts in as many games to Italy's return to the top division. In both 2009 and 2011 he achieved the best catch quota and the lowest average goal conceded of the tournament, in 2009 he was also voted best goalkeeper.
