Stefan Vajs (born July 13, 1988 in Bonn ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with ESV Kaufbeuren in the 2nd national ice hockey league since 2010 .

Career

Stefan Vajs began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of the Cologne EC , for which he was active in the German youth league until 2006 . The goalkeeper then played for a year for ESV Bergisch Gladbach in the regional league and two seasons for EC Peiting in the major league . In the 2008/09 season, the native of Bonn impressed and was voted the best goalkeeper and most valuable player in the entire upper league by the ice hockey magazine Eishockey News . In addition, with 2.59 he had the best goalscoring average in the league. Then Vajs was given the opportunity to return to the Kölner Haien, for which he made his debut in the German Ice Hockey League on September 20, 2009 in the 2: 4 defeat at the Augsburger Panthers . Meanwhile, Stefan Vajs has moved to ESV Kaufbeuren in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga . There he signed a seven-year contract in 2013. After the end of the main round in 2016/17 he was named “Player of the Year” and “Goalkeeper of the Year” in the DEL2 . In the 2017/18 season he had the lowest average goals against goals and the best catch rate in the DEL2 and was again named “Goalkeeper of the Year”.
