The 1972/73 season was the 39th season of Serie A1 , the highest Italian ice hockey division . Champion was for the second time in the history of the club of HC Bozen .

mode

Initially, the nine teams played a common main round. The four best-placed teams qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. The remaining five teams then contested a placement round. The points from the main round were carried over to the final or placement round. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
