The season 2016/17 the Italian Ice Hockey Championship of Serie A was in a tournament on 21 and 22 January 2017 Asiago discharged and was the 83rd regular hosting of the Italian Championship. The participants were all Italian teams of the newly founded Alps Hockey League , with HC Neumarkt taking the place of HC Valpellice in the summer . Ritten Sport defended the Italian championship title in the final against Asiago Hockey .

While HC Valpellice did not participate anymore, HC Neumarkt was there again.

The four best-placed Italian teams in the Alps Hockey League qualified for the Final Four tournament on January 21 and 22, 2017 in Asiago . Ritten finished the AHL regular season as leader of the table and met the fourth Italian team, SG Cortina, in the first semi-final . The second semifinal encounter was played by HC Pustertal and host Asiago Hockey .

Final Four

Ritten Sport defeated SG Cortina 5-2 in the afternoon game. In the evening Asiago Hockey prevailed 3-1 against HC Pustertal. The final on Sunday decided Ritten against Asiago 3-2 in his favor and thus won the third Italian championship title in four years.
