The 1998/99 season was the 65th season of Serie A1 , the highest Italian ice hockey division . Champion was for the second time in the history of the HC Meran club .

mode

In the main round, each of the nine teams played a total of 16 games. The eight best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. Each team received two points for a win after regular time and after extra time, one point for a loss after extra time and zero points for a loss after regular time. In addition, the teams received a certain number of bonus points according to their placement in the Alpine League .

Main round

The team of SG Cortina played their home games in the absence of a suitable ice rink in Milan, but the club's headquarters remained in Cortina d'Ampezzo .
