Christian Borgatello (born February 10, 1982 in Meran ) is an Italian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Ritten Sport in Serie A since summer 2014 and has also played with the club in the Alps Hockey League since 2016 , which he won in 2017 .

Career

Christian Borgatello began his career as an ice hockey player at HC Meran , for which he was active in Serie A1 for a total of six years from 1998 to 2004 and with which he became Italian champion for the first time in his rookie year 1999 . After the defender had spent the 2004/05 season with the Dundee Stars from the British National League , he returned to his Italian homeland, where he won the championship and then the Supercoppa with the HC Milano Vipers in 2006 . After two years, the right-handed shooter signed with their league rivals HC Bozen , for whom he played from 2007 to 2011, and with whom he won the Supercoppa and the Messe Cup in 2007 and 2008, and was Italian champion in 2008 and 2009. In addition, Borgatello won the Coppa Italia for the first time in his career with Bozen in 2009 .

For the 2011/12 season, Borgatello moved to Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from the Austrian ice hockey league , but returned to HC Bozen in the A1 series in October 2011, with which he won both the championship title and the Supercoppa in 2012. In the summer of 2013, he switched to local rivals HC Pustertal , and a year later Borgatello switched to Ritten Sport . With Ritten Sport, he won the Coppa for the second time in 2015, as well as the Italian championship in 2016 and 2017, and in 2017 also the first ever multinational Alps Hockey League .

International

For Italy, Borgatello took part in the U18 B World Championships in 1999 and 2000 , as well as the U20 B World Championship in 2000 and, after the changeover to the current division system, in the U20 World Championships in Division I in 2001 and 2002 .

For men, he was in Italy's squad at the World Championships in the top division in 2002 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 as well as in Division I in 2003 , 2005 , 2009 and 2013 when he was voted the best player on his team. He also represented his colors at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and 2018 in Pyeongachng , for which the Italians could not qualify.
