The 1984/85 season was the 51st season of Serie A1 , the highest Italian ice hockey division . Champion was for the ninth time in the history of the HC Bozen . The HC Como descended to the second division.

mode

In the main round, each of the ten teams played a total of 18 games. Then the league was divided into two groups of five teams each in the second phase of the season. According to their main round placement, the teams received one to five bonus points for the second phase of the season. In the second phase of the season, the teams played back and forth against each group opponent. The four best-placed teams in each group qualified for the playoffs in which the championship title was played. The last two in the group had to compete against each other in the relegation to keep their class. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
