Robert "Bob" Sullivan (born November 29, 1957 in Noranda , Québec ; † May 24, 2018 in Mannheim , Germany ) was a Canadian ice hockey player . During his career he played for the Hartford Whalers in the National Hockey League . He was the cousin of NHL star Steve Sullivan , who also wore the number 26 shirt because of Bob Sullivan's role model.

Career

Sullivan was selected in the seventh round in the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft in 116th position by the New York Rangers after scoring 45 goals for Chicoutimi. A year later he was drawn again in the NHL Amateur Draft . This time the Atlanta Flames secured his rights in the eleventh round in 180th place. After Sullivan scored 47 goals for Binghamton in the 1981/82 season, he won the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award , as Rookie of the Year in the American Hockey League and was named to the First All-Star Team . The left winger played in the 1982/83 season for a year in the National Hockey League with the Hartford Whalers and played 62 games in which he scored 18 goals and prepared 19. Robert "Bob" Sullivan joined HC Bozen in 1984 from the Binghamton Whalers .

Later he was able to record several successes in Europe. In the 1987/88 season he played in Austria at EHC Lustenau . In the years after 2000 he was active as a player trainer at EV Lindau am Bodensee . From 2007 Bob Sullivan worked in inline hockey at ISC Mannheim . He was also the coach of the EC Pfaffenhofen women's team and managed an ice hockey shop in the Pfaffenhofen stadium.

He died on May 24, 2018 at the age of 60 in Mannheim.
