The 2013/14 season of the Italian ice hockey championship under the new name Elite.A began in autumn 2013 and is the 80th regular staging of the Italian national championship.

While Asiago Hockey is the defending champion, the WSV Sterzing Broncos rose from the second Italian ice hockey league to the top division.

Eight teams take part in the game - HC Bozen switched to the EBEL , HC Alleghe withdrew from the game for financial reasons and SG Pontebba was relegated to the second division.

mode

In the main round, the eight teams played 42 games each in three single rounds with a return leg. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time.

The play-offs are played in a modified procedure, with the first four teams forming the top group and the other four teams forming the bottom group. The upper group first plays the two participants in the league cup in the best-of-five mode .

In the first round, the lower group determines the two participants in the second round, in which they meet the losers in the upper group. The winners of the second round (best-of-three) and the participants in the league cup then meet in the semi-finals, which, like the finals, are played in best-of-seven mode.
