Stanislav Gron (born October 28, 1978 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with SG Cortina in the Italian A1 series since summer 2012 .

Career

Stanislav Gron began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth of HC Slovan Bratislava , for whose professional team he was active in the Slovak extra league from 1995 to 1997 . He was then selected in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a total of 38th player by the New Jersey Devils . Initially, however, the attacker played for two years in the Canadian top junior division Western Hockey League for the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kootenay Ice , as well as one for New Jersey's farm team from the American Hockey League , the Albany River Rats , before joining the 2000/01 season made his debut in the National Hockey League for the New Jersey Devils. In his only NHL mission, the Slovak remained pointless and punished. However, he spent most of his time in the Devils franchise from 1999 to 2002 in the AHL with the River Rats.

In the summer of 2002 Gron returned to Europe , where he was initially on the ice for HC Vítkovice in the Czech extra league for a year . After he had started the 2003/04 season at its league rivals HC Slavia Prague , he moved to MsHK Žilina with whom he became Slovak champion for the first time in his career in the 2005/06 season . In the following season, the former international junior player received a contract with Füchsen Duisburg , which he left during the current season to play for HC Košice , with whom he became champions three times in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In the summer of 2012, he switched to the Italian Serie A1 , where he signed with SG Cortina .

International

For Slovakia , Gron took part in the junior division of the U20 World Junior Championships in 1997 and 1998 . In the senior sector, he has only been on the ice at the 2010 World Cup .
