Giorgio De Bettin (born August 7, 1972 in Pieve di Cadore ) is a former Italian ice hockey player who was last under contract with SG Cortina from 2004 to 2015 in the Italian A1 series and was appointed sports director of the club after retiring. He has been the head coach of SG Cortina since the 2018/19 season.

Career

Giorgio De Bettin began his career at SG Zoldo , for which he stormed for two years. In the summer of 1992 he moved to Fiemme for the local team HC Fiemme Cavalese . Before the 1993/94 season, the striker moved to HC Asiago . The following season he moved to HC Lions Courmaosta before returning to HC Asiago for two years. In 1997 he signed a one-year contract with SG Cortina . In the following season, the team from Cortina d'Ampezzo played in the absence of a suitable ice rink in Milan, but the club's headquarters remained in Cortina.

In 1999 the De Bettin returned to HC Asiago, for which he then went out of goal hunting for a total of four seasons. In the summer of 2004 he finally moved to SG Cortina . There, after more than ten years, he announced his official end of career in February 2015 at the age of 42 and changed positions within the club, where he was appointed the new sports director. By this time he had scored 707 points scorer in 807 games in the Serie A.

International

Giorgio De Bettin participated for Italy in the World Championships of the Top Division in 2002 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 and 2010 as well as the World Championships in Division I in 2003 , 2004 , 2005 and 2009 .

He was also a member of the national team for the Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006 and the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 .
