Armin Hofer (born March 19, 1987 in Bruneck , South Tyrol ) is an Italian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Pustertal since 2004 and has played with the club in the newly founded Alps Hockey League since 2016 .

Career

Armin Hofer started his career in the youth department of HC Pustertal . In the 2004/05 season he came to his first three appearances in the first team of his home club. In the following, he trained with the first team, but rarely came to a few missions before he finally made the leap into the A-team in the 2006/07 season. Since then he has played continuously for HC Pustertal and has grown into an important defender in the team. On March 12, 2011, he shot his home club in the fourth semi-final against HC Valpellice away with his decisive goal to make it 4: 3 for the first time in the club's history in the final of Serie A. In 2012 he won the main round of Serie A with the Pustertalers, but then lost again the playoff final, this time against HC Bozen. A year later it was already in the semi-finals of the playoffs against Asiago Hockey terminus. In the 2013/14 season he had to admit defeat with HC Pustertal against Ritten Sport in the final. In his best season in terms of points 2014/15 (17 goals and 29 assists in 47 games) he had to admit defeat with the Wolves in the semifinals again against Ritten. After winning the Coppa Italia with the Bruneck team in 2011 , he won the Supercoppa in 2014 and 2016 . Since 2016 he has been playing with his club in the newly founded Alps Hockey League . In the same year he won the Supercoppa again.

International

For Italian junior teams, Armin Hofer took part in the U-18 World Championships in Division I in 2004 and 2005 and in the U-20 World Championships in Division I in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 .

Hofer made his debut in the men's national team at the 2008 World Cup in the top division and was unable to prevent the Italians from being relegated. At the Division I tournament in 2009 in Toruń , Hofer and his team managed to get promoted again immediately. The same pattern was repeated for Hofer and the Italians in the following years: The relegations from the top division at the 2010 and 2012 World Championships (here Hofer was absent due to an injury) were followed by promotions at the Division I tournaments in 2011 and 2013 . After Hofer was relegated from the top division again with Italy in 2014 , he and his team missed the renewed immediate promotion the following year and only came second to last in the A group of Division I. In 2016 he was promoted to the top division again. After relegation from the top division at the 2017 World Cup , he was immediately promoted again in 2018 . Hofer also participated with Italy in the Olympic qualifications for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang .
