HC Pustertal

The Rienzstadion is an ice rink in the city of Bruneck in South Tyrol , which is the home ground of HC Pustertal .

The ice rink was built in the early 1970s under the name Rienzstadion. The name was chosen because it stands near the Rienz river . Before that, there was a natural ice rink in its place, which had been created because of the rather shady location. The Rienz Stadium is near the parish church of Bruneck .

In 2009 the Rienz Stadium was renamed "Leitner Solar Arena". The reason was an agreement with the local company Leitner Solar AG. When the contract was signed, it was assumed that Leitner Solar would build a photovoltaic system on the roof of the hall. However, as voices were raised in the same year about the construction of a new stadium in the school zone of Bruneck, it was decided not to install a photovoltaic system for this reason. Before the 2014/15 season, it was renamed Rienzstadion.

The Rienz Stadium is used for ice hockey games , ice sport events, sports events, as a concert, congress and other event hall. The stadium has two large, opposite grandstands, two more small ones are in the entrance area and behind the opposite gate.

The hall is mainly used by the local ice hockey club HC Pustertal for training and playing purposes. Some recreational teams also use the playing area for training and to play games. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 it was used to host the finals of the internationally known Dolomite Cup . Among the participating teams in the three years were Frankfurt Lions , SCL Tigers , TWK Innsbruck , Team Italy , EV Zug , Kölner Haie and Black Wings Linz . On August 14, 2010 the only game of the Dolomitencup between the two top teams EV Zug ( National League A / Switzerland ) and Nürnberg Ice Tigers ( German Ice Hockey League / Germany ) was played in Bruneck .

Various ice gals also sometimes take place in the Rienz Stadium. In the summer of 2008 it was used to welcome the Italian soccer team Inter Milan , which then completed a training camp in Reischach lasting several weeks .
