history

Reischach around 1890 - processing 1.JPG

The historian Raimund Grießmair suspects that Reischach was around 400 BC. Was founded around the same time as the neighboring village of St. Lorenzen . However, there are no archaeological finds for this. Around 700-800 AD, the Reischach area was settled by Bavarian settlers .

In the 11th century the Lords of Rishon are named as the landlords of the settlement. By loyalty to the Bishop of Brixen they were able to achieve great wealth. They became ministerials of the Brixen monastery and resided in the Angerburg residence . Their prosperity grew, and in the 12th / 13th centuries Albert von Rischon had the Lamprechtsburg built in the 15th century. Since then they have been calling themselves " Noble von Lamprechtsburg". They married only among nobles; z. For example, Katharina von Rischon married Mr. Achatius von Teiss ( Teisegg residence in Bruneck ). The Tyrolean - Görzian War of Succession , however, affected their estates, their relationship with the Bishop of Brixen deteriorated and the lords of Rischon-St. Lamprechtsburg had to leave the Lamprechtsburg in 1343. They died out in 1380 and their property fell to the Bishop of Brixen .

In a former noble residence of the Lords of Rischon in the village center of Reischach, a restaurant is operated today, whose name "Rischon" and its historical appearance still remind of those glorious times.

The farming hamlet ( Rotten ) in the area served as a largely self-managed economic units over several centuries before 1850 under the name of the local church Reischach, Reiperting and Walchhorn - Pusterthal were combined into an official political entity. With a royal decree in 1929, the municipality was incorporated into Bruneck as a fraction under the name Riscone .

Most of the production came from agriculture . At the end of the 1960s, Plan de Corones was expanded into a winter sports resort. The most important lift facilities were built in the Reischingen municipality. This increased the demand for tourist services ( hotel industry ). Since then, Reischach has primarily been a service location .

etymology

In 1039 Reischach was first mentioned as Risconi in the founding report of the Sonnenburg Monastery . Other early name variations are: 1050‒65 Risconi, -e , 1155‒64 Riscon , 1200 Richsenowe , 1237 Reischow , 1285 Reuschen , 1359 Reyschach . The place Reischach has been written since 1770 .

The name goes back to the Old High German word for rush plants . * risc is an Old High German word for (swamp) bin. With the Old High German word "ouve" for Aue, the name means something like "Aue, where the rushes grow". So probably from Old High German * Riskouve through the diphthongization î to aɪ̯ and the s-palatalization in the course of time the current name Reischach.

The German municipality of Reischach in the Altötting district , also Bajuwarensiedlung (!), And the municipality of Risch in Switzerland also explain their name in this way.

However, this is not considered certain, others suspect the origin of the name in a personal name.

Walchhorn

The earliest written testimony is from the 11th century and is "Walchun". Later "Walchern" and finally "Walchhorn" appear. The name (cf. Welsche ) as well as the type of settlement (Haufendorf) suggest an originally Ladin settlement, which probably existed until the late Middle Ages .

Reiperting

The typical Bavarian toponym with -ing suffix means "settlement of a Reinbert / Reinbart".
