European Cheerleading Association

The European Cheerleading Association ( ECA ), the European Association of Cheerleading based in Germany .

Although cheerleading is a typical American sport , it is practiced in over 60 countries around the world. In order to bundle the activities in Europe , the ECA was founded in Stuttgart in 1994 . The ECA endeavors not only to make cheerleading better known in Europe, but to ensure that cheerleading is recognized internationally as a sport. In the medium term, the aim is to ensure that cheerleading becomes an Olympic sport. In addition to other international measures, the ECA especially organizes the European Cheerleading Championships in the youth and adult sector, ensures a uniform set of rules, as well as a consistent training of judges in order to achieve the same evaluation criteria and scores in national and international competitions.

The ECA has been organizing European championships since 1994. The first took place in Stuttgart , the last so far took place in Slovenia in July 2011. The President of the ECA is Vojko Korošec ( Slovenia ). The management of the association is completed by the Vice President Ramona Marshall ( Germany ), as well as the members of the management Riccardo Cavalieri ( Italy ), Bartosz Penkala ( Poland ), Livia Stričak ( Croatia ), Werner Urschinger (Germany), Egor Shchirskiy ( Russia ) and Pal Hawkings ( United Kingdom ).
