Darcy Campbell (born May 12, 1984 in Airdrie , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with HC Pustertal from the Italian Serie A.
Career
Darcy Campbell began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Alberta Junior Hockey League , in which he was active from 2002 to 2004 for the Canmore Eagles and Olds Grizzlys. He then played for three years for the team at the University of Alaska Fairbanks , before the defender was signed on March 24, 2007 as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets .
For the Blzue Jackets he made his debut in the National Hockey League towards the end of the 2006/07 season . However, this remained his only use in the NHL. In the 2007/08 season , the left shooter played instead for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Syracuse Crunch , before he was given to the Colorado Avalanche on January 22, 2008 together with Philippe Dupuis in exchange for Mark Rycroft . Also in his time with the Avalanche Campbell was exclusively for their AHL farm team Lake Erie Monsters on the ice, for which he scored a total of 15 points in 74 games in the 2008/09 season . Then TPS Turku became aware of the Canadian from the Finnish SM-liiga and took him under contract for the 2009/10 season .
In January 2010 Campbell was committed after 33 games for TPS from HC Slavia Prague . After the end of the season he returned to North America and took part in September 2010 at the San Antonio Rampage training camp from the AHL. Since they had not signed him, Campbell decided to get involved with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees from the Central Hockey League . In the 2010/11 season he was the most successful defender in the league with 62 points in 60 regular season games and was elected to the All-CHL team at the end of the season . In August 2011 he received a contract with the Chicago Express from the ECHL . For the following season, the Canadian was signed by the ice pirates Crimmitschau from the 2nd Bundesliga . In the summer of 2013, he moved to HC Pustertal in the Italian Serie A .
