Airdrie is a city in Alberta ( Canada ). It is equipped with 61,581 inhabitants, the second largest city in the metropolitan area of Calgary increased and has in the period from Census 2011 to Census 2016 its population by 42.3%. The 2011 census found a population of 42,564. However, the area of the municipality has more than doubled in the same period. The community has the status of a city ( English City ).
Airdrie was founded in 1889 by the Calgary and Edmonton Railway railway company.
