The BeNe League 2016/17 was the second season of the joint highest ice hockey league in Belgium and the Netherlands .

Attendees

Three teams had withdrawn from the league: Dordrecht Lions , Turnhout Tigers and Olympia Heist op den Berg . The GIJS Bears Groningen , who withdrew shortly before the start of the 2015/16 season, were new to the league. 14 teams took part in the league. NetherlandsNetherlands BelgiumBelgium BelgiumBelgium

The planned division of the league into two performance classes did not materialize. Instead, as in the previous year, the clubs were divided into two groups:

Group A Group B

A single round (home and away leg) was played within each group. Each team in Group A played once against each team in Group B, either at home or away. Each team had 19 games.

The first four clubs in each group qualified for the play-offs. Quarter and semi-finals were played in the best-of-three, the final in the best-of-five .

Belgian Championship final

The two best Belgian teams in each group will qualify for the final on March 25th and 26th, in which the Belgian champions will be played.

Final four for the Dutch championship

The two best Dutch teams in each group qualify for a "Final Four" on February 24th to 26th, in which the Dutch champions will be played out. The master was determined in a Final Four .

Cup winners

The Dutch clubs of the league (except for Eindhoven, which renounce) played the Dutch ice hockey cup, which was won by the Heerenveen Flyers .

The four Belgian clubs played the Belgian Cup , which was won by HYC Herentals .
