The 2016/17 season was the 86th season of the Romanian Ice Hockey League , the highest Romanian ice hockey league . Master was the main round winner ASC Corona 2010 Brașov , who defeated the main round second HSC Csíkszereda with 4-2 wins in the playoff final .

In the main round, each of the six teams played a total of 30 games. The top four teams qualified for the playoff semifinals. The other two teams played from fifth and sixth place. The playoff semifinals were played in the best-of-five mode, the final in the best-of-seven mode. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
