The 2008/09 season was the 79th season of the Romanian Ice Hockey League , the highest Romanian ice hockey division . Champion was for the eleventh time in the club's history of SC Miercurea Ciuc .

In the main round, each of the five teams played a total of 16 games. The four best-placed teams qualified for the final round, the two first-placed teams in turn qualified for the championship finals. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
