The 2017/18 season of the Italian ice hockey championship was held for the first time under the name Italian Hockey League (IHL).
The top tier was the IHL Elite with eight teams that took part in the international Alps Hockey League at the same time . The actual Italian Hockey League replaced the previous series B . The league consisted of twelve clubs. The third game stage was the Italian Hockey League Division I , formerly Serie C . In the IHL Div.I eleven clubs played in two regional groups.

For the IHL Elite , the matches in the two Italian regional groups (South A and South B) of the Alps Hockey League 2017/18 were rated. The two best teams in each group qualified for the Final Four of the Italian championship.
